Is data transfer really unlimited and free?+
Yes. Bandwidth is 100% free on every plan: Ravenstash never charges per GB transferred. Bigger packages and bandwidth spikes do not create a data transfer bill. Plans include generous artifact-read allowances designed to cover everyday projects and production workflows, so most projects can download packages at no additional cost. If you bring your own storage, your storage provider's own charges still apply.
Why are there included artifact reads if data transfer is free?+
The read allowance is primarily a safeguard against abuse and unusually intensive request traffic, not a bandwidth charge. For most projects, the included reads should be more than enough for a completely free download experience within the plan. Even high-volume production can fit: a large package download counts as one read, regardless of its size. Paid plans keep serving packages above the allowance at $0.15 per 1,000 additional reads, calculated on the exact excess quantity. Free has a hard limit of 5,000 reads per month and no paid overages.
How is additional storage calculated?+
Each day, we take your peak storage usage, subtract your plan's included capacity (1 GB on Free, 10 GB on Premium, 50 GB on Team, or 500 GB on Business), and bill only the excess on paid plans. We round that day's excess up to the next whole GB, multiply it by $0.20, and divide by the number of days in that monthly billing cycle. Your storage charge is the sum of those daily amounts. For example, on Team in a 30-day cycle, a peak of 60 GB for 15 days and 50 GB or less for the other 15 costs 10 × $0.20 × 15/30 = $1 extra. Free has a hard storage limit and no paid overages.
How are additional users calculated?+
Team includes 3 users, then $7/user/month; Business includes 15, then $9/user/month. We count each day's peak number of accepted organization members. Each user above the included allowance contributes one active user-day, charged at the plan's monthly user rate divided by the number of days in the monthly billing cycle. We add those daily amounts together. For example, 5 users on Team for 15 days of a 30-day cycle, with 3 or fewer on the remaining days, costs 2 × $7 × 15/30 = $7 extra. A user counts through their accepted membership, whether or not they sign in that day. Pending invitations and automation tokens do not count.
How does annual billing work?+
Premium is one $72 payment for a yearly commitment. Team is a $348 yearly commitment with either one upfront payment or twelve $29 monthly installments. Business is a $2,388 yearly commitment with either one upfront payment or twelve $199 monthly installments. Included reads reset each monthly billing cycle, including on annual plans. Storage and additional users are calculated daily within those monthly cycles.
Does adding a user add more storage or artifact reads?+
No. Users, storage, and artifact reads are separate allowances, so additional users do not increase a plan's included storage or reads. Data transfer remains unlimited and free.
What counts as an artifact read?+
A successfully served PyPI, npm, or Maven package file or Container or Helm blob counts as one artifact read, whatever its size. A download redirected to customer-owned storage counts once when Ravenstash authorizes it. Successful range responses and retries each count separately. Metadata, Maven POM/checksum/signature files, OCI manifests, HEAD requests, conditional no-content responses, and errors do not count.
Can an individual plan be shared with a team?+
No. Free and Premium are for one person only, for their own individual projects. They cannot be shared with a team. For team projects, choose Team, Business, or Enterprise.
